HOMOGLOBIINI

Homoglobiini organizes a media workshop with the title “Queering up the media” at TuSeta’s office (Rauhankatu 1 c B 22) on Monday February 20 at 19.00-21.00. The workshop is inspired by last autumn’s ANSO conference “Loud and Visible”. The purpose of the workshop is to present different media tools and how they can be used in queer activism and in making LGBTQ visible. The workshop will include a presentation and group works. The event will be held mainly in English.

Homoglobiini’s spring edition of Newbies’ Night falls on Valentine’s Day, 14 February. Everybody wishing to make new friends and interested in Homoglobiini’s activities is warmly welcome. And as it’s also Shrove Tuseday just around the corner (Nordic tradition), we’re going to climb a hill nearby to ride some sledges (pulkka in Finnish). We gather first at Turku Seta’s office (Rauhankatu 1 c B 22, doorbell “Seta ry”) so that newbies come at 19 o’clock and get some info about Homoglobiini, ‘oldies’ come at 19.30 Then we’re enjoying some mint cocoa with traditional shrove buns and thereafter go to Puolala Hill just next door. Welcome!

Homoglobiini’s film night is on Wednesday 8.2. at 7 pm at TuSeta’s office (Rauhankatu 1 c B 22). We are going to see the film “Milk” (USA 2008) that recounts the story of a pioneering lgbt activist, played by Sean Penn. Homoglobiini will offer some snacks. Welcome!

Homoglobiini’s additional general meeting will be held on Wednesday, 25 January, at 5 pm at Three Beers (Inspehtorinkatu 4, Student Village). The purpose of the meeting is to fill a couple of vacancies in HG’s board, and it will probably not take long. All members are also welcome to follow the board meeting that will commence immediately after the general meeting. Our regular informal member meeting begins at 7 pm.

Fore! HG begins the 2012 with minigolf in UV light at West Coast next to the orthodox church by the Market Square. We’ll meet there on next Wednesday (11.1.) at 18.30. With our jolly good group you can play with only 5 e, the normal cost being 12 e. So come and save money in good company! Aftermath will take place at bar Suxes.

HG’s traditional December movie marathon is coming again! This time we’re watching all three Matrix movies. The marathon starts at Turku Seta’s office (Rauhankatu 1 c B 22) on next Saturday 17.12. at 15 and takes about six hours. HG offers some snacks and soft drinks.

HG’s pre-Christmas party is coming on Monday, December 5th at 18. We’re offering drinks and some snacks to eat, so it’s worth coming! The party takes place at Turku Seta’s office (Rauhankatu 1 c B 22). Remember that next day is holiday, so you can party hard…

Homoglobiini’s autumn annual general meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, 30.11. at bar Suxes (Yliopistonkatu 9, inner yard), starting at 19. We’ll have usual autumn AGM issues: choosing the president and other board members for 2012 and going through the preliminary budget and plan of action for 2012.

On Wednesday 9.11. it’s again time for HG’s meeting. This time we’re going to meet at bar Proffan kellari (Student House B’s yard) at 19. We have booked a cabinet from second floor – just take stairs right by the entrance.

On Wednesday it’s time to unleash your inner Ian Thorpe as we’re going to spa Caribia next to Student Village! Let’s meet at the lobby at 18.30. Entrance is for students 8,50 e (7,50 e with S-card) and for others 13,50 e (12,50 e). HG will support all the participants with 2 e.
